I Was Terrible at Conversations. Here's the Tape.

Here's a recording from one of the first cold calls I ever did, way back in 2013.

I can't listen past 34 seconds without cringing.

Notice that:

• The call lasted almost 5 minutes, but because of how badly I started, I lost her within 20 seconds. (I only realized this later, when my mentor analyzed the recording.)
• After she talked, I launched straight into my “pitch”—obviously reading off my notes—for a full minute. It felt like forever.

The point is: if I could go from this to teaching networking skills today, you can get much, much better too. 🤗
