How to Find Jobs in Germany That Don’t Require German Using the 3-Circle Connection Framework
Jobs in Germany that don’t require German. Where do you find them?
Two days ago, I shared how I used Project 100 to land a job in Germany in just 6 months, without knowing anyone in Europe.
Project 100 is a simple networking strategy: you connect with 100 people, let them know you’re open to opportunities, and ask their advice.
It’s also the perfect strategy for finding English-speaking jobs in Germany.
Here’s how it works: Find a person like you (who doesn’t speak German) and identify the company where they work. Why? Because that company has hired someone like you, and will likely be open to considering you as well.
Makes sense?
Now the question is, how exactly do you find 100 people like you?
The 3-Circle Connection Framework
This is a tool I created to find the right people to network with.
It’s a Venn diagram with 3 circles.
- Your role
- Your nationality
- Your associations (e.g. where you did your MBA)
By mixing and matching these circles, you identify 7 types of connections. For example, if you’re a Filipino financial controller with an MBA from Humboldt in Berlin, you can target others who are Filipino, financial controllers, or alumni from Humboldt. Each combination is a potential opportunity.
The 7 Types of Connections
- Same role, nationality, and association.
- Same role and nationality.
- Same role and association.
- Same nationality and association.
- Same role.
- Same nationality.
- Same association.
Find 10-20 people in each category and you’ll have 70-140 potential connections.
Will everyone be working in companies with English-speaking job openings? Of course not. Most of them won’t even have open roles right now.
But this is how you uncover hidden job opportunities. Not only has it worked for me personally, I’ve also used it to help lawyers and political staffers — industries that rarely hire internationals — find jobs in Germany.
Besides, you don’t need 100 jobs.
You only need 1.
