Weekly Update: Mar 14–20, 2026

Ended a client engagement that wasn't working, joined a $24,000 coaching program for career coaches, Client G got an offer before he even landed in Germany, and broke my 10k PR: 57:57!! 🏅

KPIs

North Star Metrics

  • € Rev Booked ICP Clients: €0 / €1,500 (every 2 weeks)
    • Already booked €2,100 last week
  • Avg # Job-Relevant Conversations per Active ICP Client: Still TBD

Cashflow

  • € Cash Collected: -€300 / €375
    • Two refunds this week. One to a client who got a job early 🥳 He's moving to Germany from the Philippines soon and asked kindly, knowing it's not my policy. Given he didn't get much of my time in the last 3 months, it felt right. One proactive refund to a client I canceled on (more on this below).

Overall

The whole week was dominated by a client I was deeply misaligned with. Last week I wrote about crying on a client call. I thought the problem was that my operations were a mess and I was overloaded. But this week, I realized the real issue was one specific client relationship.

It's not her. We were so energetically misaligned, and what she needed from me was beyond the scope of what I offer, and which my other clients have never asked of me. I spend ~2 hours per week with new clients in the first month. With her, I was spending significantly more. Not only on calls and on prep, but crucially, on mental energy.

She suggested that this might not be the best fit for her. I agreed. We canceled the engagement and I proactively refunded her, even though I'd already spent the time, and the opportunity cost was high. The moment I did, I felt it immediately: relief, time, space, energy.

All cleared up at once.

I joined Opny's coaching program for career coaches. I wrote about it here: Why I Joined Opny's $24,000 Coaching Program for Career Coaches

I'll be writing about this in my future Weekly Updates as I work through the program.

Three LinkedIn posts this week:

Client Delivery

  • Client G got an offer! 🎉 He's still in the Philippines (arriving in Munich in April). We'd been working together to derisk his move by getting at least interviews lined up before he landed. It worked out perfectly.
  • 13 client calls, including 3 mock interviews and reengagement with 2 clients who had taken a break from their job search in the last few weeks.
  • Two clients sent me these messages this week. It's so important to appreciate the progress we make even before we get the offer. 🥹

When the Work Piles Up: Notes from Year Two of Building Brave New Path
Building a business is never as balanced as you’d like. You grow faster than your systems, or you build systems before you have clients. The timing is always off. This is an honest update from the middle of Year Two: what’s actually hard right now, and why I think that’s exactly right.
Why I Joined Opny’s $24,000 Coaching Program for Career Coaches
I just joined a $24,000 coaching program. Here’s the decision log I wrote immediately after signing up, and why I’m publishing it.

Last, I broke my 10k PR today: 57:57 🏅

Ready for the Berlin Half Marathon next week!!
